Before moving on from a study session, check you’ve really “got it”. Depending on your VARK preferences:

VISUAL
Draw a simple diagram to show the core concepts and the relationships between them.

AURAL
Explain the concept to someone else in your own words.

READ/WRITE
Write a summary.

KINESTHETIC
Demonstrate what you have learned or explain what you have learned with reference to real-world examples.
Don’t spend too long on the task – the goal is to check that you’ve got the main points clear in your mind.
If you haven’t “got it”, engage with the material again, perhaps using a different modality or strategy. Focus on any gaps in understanding that you discovered in your 5-minute check.
Used consistently, this simple practice can meaningfully enhance consolidation and retention.
